Joint Traffic Offloading and Aging Control in 5G IoT Networks

The widespread adoption of 5G cellular technology will evolve as one the major drivers for growth IoT-based applications. In this paper, we consider a Service Provider (SP) that launches smart city service based on IoT data readings: in order to serve collected across different locations, SP dynamically negotiates and rescales bandwidth functions. network slicing functions are key lease appropriate amount resources over heterogeneous access technologies site types. Also, infrastructure providers charge depending specific supported sites collection patterns. We introduce pricing mechanism Age Information (AoI) reduce cost SPs. It provides incentives devices smooth traffic by shifting part load from highly congested more expensive locations lesser charged ones, while meeting QoS requirements service. proposed optimal scheme comprises two-stage decision process, where determines each location schedule uploads uploading policy. Simulations show attains consistent reductions tuning trade-off between costs AoI uploaded data.
